Ghadir Horse Desert or Ghadir Horse Salt Lake is located at N3427 E5120 in Isfahan province and on the border of Qom province. Ghadir Horse is located 42 kilometers southeast of Qom city and 48 kilometers north of Kashan. This salt desert is one of the triple salt desert deserts of Maasil. The three salts include the Sultan’s Basin, the Salt Lake, and the horse feed, which is much smaller than the other two salts. The salt is circular and its average diameter is about 4 kilometers. The altitude of the Nemar is about 780 meters from the open sea, which is about 10 meters lower than the salt lake. This low level of surface has caused some of the salt lake salts to move toward the saltwater after overflow. The salt marsh is bounded on the west by the northwest and clutter-like elevations and on the east by the low-lying desert plains to the salt marsh lake. The nearest town to this area is Hossein Abad Mish Mast 14 km west of it.
The structure of the wetland is a seasonal wetland with salt crust. Ghadir Wetland has an area of 3,000 hectares, including salt marsh, marshy margin and marginal vegetation, located in the Serajeh area adjacent to the Serajeh Oil Site and south of the Masail plain. Ghadir Wetland has good habitat conditions for specific desert species, such as Huber, due to its pristine and lack of access roads. This wetland lacks any rivers or runoff and its water source comes from the region’s aquifers. In fact, the physical and ecosystem structure of the wetland is very similar to the wetland constituent of the Sultan Basin.
The Qom Province Environmental Directorate is consulting to register Ghadir Horse Wetland in the Ramsar Convention List with the aim of revitalizing the wetland and realizing wetland trophy rights and securing its environmental rights.
Vegetation
Due to the high percentage of soil solids within the desert area and on its periphery there is no biological life, but on the margin of the wetland all kinds of desert and desert plants are visible. Vegetation of the area includes Artemisia dashti, Ashan, Tagh, Kharashtar, Mir Hossein’s hat and more.

There is no clear path to access this wetland and you need to use driving and off-road skills. From Qom highway to Kashan After maral restaurant, enter Qom old road of Qom. Turn left onto the old road, continue on the parallel road to Kashan until you reach the first subway. Continue after the road crossing the Varanjan telecommunications facility. Before the telecommunications facility, enter the Oil Company’s dirt road and continue 10 km east. Take the dirt road after 10 kilometers and head north. The wetland will appear in the dome of the salt domes.
