Mare Desert is located at N3457 E5104 in Qom province. If you move to the eastern side of Saltan Salt Lake, there is a desert or salt lake that joins in flood conditions and its eastern side leads to Qom-Garmsar road and covers an area of ​​10,000 hectares. This wetland is located in the north of Qom province, 50 km from Qom – Garmsar road and south of Mount Merah. The brackish lagoon water and its main source of supply are the Shour and Karaj rivers, which flow from the northern side of Qura and the lagoon in the vicinity of Mareh Mountain. The wetland in the winter, especially during the flood, creates large blue zones that cover an area of ​​more than 10,000 hectares, and hosts numerous species of migratory birds and appears as clayey plains in other seasons. Mareh lagoon is fundamentally different from the Sultan Basin in terms of structure, formation, ecosystem and related ecosystems. Accordingly, the Sultan basin is composed of salt marshes with marshy margins and its water sources are mainly underground aquifers and even this lake is wet in summer but its salt marshes overflow and floods of saline rivers Karaj and southern Alborz. And is a clay pond or pond and has no salt.

In the past it has been a good habitat for desert species and the presence of Jabir and Gore has been reported in the area for years.

Vegetation
Its marshy or marshy belt has vegetation that is mostly found in the northern and northeastern sides of the desert, and there are rare migratory birds living in the desert. There are more than 40 plant species in the area, including desert sage, ashan, yellow and black alder, soda and spinach.
