Shiraz, located in the ancient province of Fars (originally called Pars, hence the word “Iran”), is a city of poets, philosophers and reformers (translation does not mean party and group). Shiraz is also home to the Karim Khan citadel, as well as the tombs of the famous poets Hafiz and Saadi. It is also located near the ancient site of Persepolis, which is easily accessible by bus. Persepolis was the capital of the emperors Darius and Cyrus from about 5 BC, all that is left of it is huge pillars, synapses and a wonderful march. Karim Khan Zand, the king of Iran, built the city in the year 9, until it acquired the city in the Qajar dynasty. Shiraz has a number of beautiful places to visit including the Nasir al-Molk Mosque, the Vakil Mosque, the Vakil Bazaar, the Eram Garden, the Afifabad Garden, the Niama Garden, the Qavam House, the Vakil Bath, the Quran Gate and the Pars Museum.
